The Compassionate Crisis Care Network (“The Network”) provides crisis support for individuals who face barriers to connecting with traditional behavioral health services. Crisis is unique to every person and can include very strong emotions that are overwhelming and cause significant distress. Crisis also can include thoughts of self-harm, suicide, and harming others. The Network’s services are designed for individuals who are at risk for a mental or behavioral health crisis or recovering from a recent crisis.
Participants are paired with a Peer Recovery Specialist in their community for weekly one-on-one peer support. These services are typically provided in person and can occur in the participants’ home. Peer support helps participants recognize new opportunities and behaviors. It also can help participants connect to community services and resources.
Participants also work with a Counselor for assessment and individual therapy. These services are provided via telehealth. Therapy focuses on understanding things that contribute to crisis, managing crisis situations, and developing resilience skills.
The Network is a partnership among peer-run Recovery Community Organizations (RCOs) that are led by individuals in recovery from mental health, substance use, and trauma-related challenges and Counseling Centers that have expertise in crisis care, trauma care, and working with people from diverse cultures.
