Safe & Secure Homeless Respite

Strength In Peers works in partnership with Sentara RMH Care Management to assist individuals who are homeless with after-care following discharge from an inpatient hospitalization for a physical, mental or behavioral health crisis. Safe and Secure provides temporary housing at a hotel for individuals who are living unsheltered or staying at an emergency shelter that does not allow them to stay during the day. We also provide coaching to adhere to medications, dietary restrictions and discharge instructions, assistance in arranging transportation to follow-up medical appointments, and referrals and assistance connecting to community services to address primary care, behavioral health, housing, employment and other needs.
