What is a Peer Recovery Specialist?
A Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) uses his/her specialized training and lived experience, with mental health and/or substance use conditions, to assist others in discovering their own path to recovery. This Training Course:
  • is for those wanting to utilize their own journeys and experiences, with mental health and/or substance abuse, in order to aid others in their recovery.
  • will result in a certificate of completion.
  • requires ten (10) days of classroom training.
  • offers a certification for a growing field.

Cost
  • FREE (includes training and materials)
  • Please bring a bagged lunch. Light refreshments will be provided.
Who can participate
  • Residents of Shenandoah and Page Counties. Space is limited.
  • Participants must have personal/lived experience with mental health and/or substance use conditions.
  • Participants must be in recovery and have willingness to utilize their own journeys and experiences in order to aid others in their recovery.
Dates/Times
  • Every Tuesday AND Wednesday in August, 9:00AM – 4:00PM.
Location
  • Primary Venue: Shenandoah Fire and Rescue, 600 N. Main Street, Suite 109, Woodstock, VA 22664; August 1, 2, 8, 9, 22, 23, 29, 30
  • Training will take place at Comfort Inn, 1011 Motel Dr, Woodstock, VA 22664 on Tuesday, August 15, and Wednesday, August 16, 2017.
